In this day and age where “standard” can mean anything, the standard size for a bar stool is usually 30 inches. This is of course based on the typical adult human whose dimensions are considered when making stools for restaurants, bars, or kitchens. A 30 inch stool reaches the thigh of an average adult and is thought to be the most comfortable position to sit at one of the above mentioned counters. If you’re unusually tall or really short, a stool of this height might not be the most comfortable thing you ever sat on, but then manufacturers cannot take an individual’s comfort into consideration when creating their designs unless you place a customized order.
